Five Ascension hospitals are included in the 2015 list of 100 Top Hospitals® published by Truven Health AnalyticsTM.
Recognized hospitals achieve or exceed national benchmark scores for hospital-wide performance. The program compares hospitals only against similar facilities in terms of size and teaching status. The study found that the 100 Top Hospitals® have roughly a half-day shorter patient length of stay, 4 percent fewer complications, and 5.9 percent lower risk-adjusted mortality rates. The winners also performed better than peer-group hospitals on 30-day readmissions for heart failure, heart attack and other conditions.

Providence-Providence Park Hospital, Southfield, Michigan
Providence Park is among the top 15 major teaching hospitals for 2015. This is the seventh time Providence has been recognized by Truven as a top major teaching hospital.
In addition to being recognized as one of the nation’s top teaching hospitals, Providence was one of only 17 hospitals in the country and the only center in Michigan honored by Truven with the Everest Award. That award honors hospitals that have achieved both the highest current performance and the fastest long-term improvement over five years.
Saint Thomas West Hospital, Nashville, Tennessee
St.Vincent Indianapolis Hospital
Both of these hospitals are among the 25 top teaching hospitals (non-major).
“This recognition by Truven of Saint Thomas West, St.Vincent Indianapolis and Providence Park reflect their expertise and that of Ascension in training the medical professionals of tomorrow,” Dr. Maryland said. Ascension is the second-largest provider of graduate medical education in the nation, after the Veterans Administration.
St.Vincent Carmel Hospital, Carmel, Indiana
St. Vincent Carmel is one of 20 hospitals included in the category of Medium Community Hospitals.
Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast, Miramar Beach, Florida
Sacred Heart on the Emerald Coast is among 20 hospitals recognized in the category of Small Community Hospitals.
