Saint Thomas Health Adds 4 Tennessee Hospitals

Ascension has finalized its previously announced agreement with Capella Healthcare to acquire four Middle Tennessee hospitals formerly jointly owned by Capella Healthcare and Saint Thomas Health, Nashville, Tennessee. With the deal’s closure, the Saint Thomas Health network has grown to nine hospitals. A comprehensive network of affiliated joint ventures, medical practices, clinics and rehabilitation facilities complement the hospital services and cover a 68-county area.

On July 24, Ascension announced it had entered a definitive agreement with Capella to acquire the hospitals, subject to customary closing conditions. The four hospitals are now full members of the Saint Thomas Health family, joining Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital, Saint Thomas West Hospital and Saint Thomas Hospital for Spinal Surgery in Nashville and Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro. The new hospitals are named:

  • Saint Thomas DeKalb Hospital in Smithville (formerly DeKalb Community Hospital)
  • Saint Thomas Highlands Hospital in Sparta (formerly Highlands Medical Center)
  • Saint Thomas River Park Hospital in McMinnville (formerly River Park Hospital)
  • Saint Thomas Stones River Hospital in Woodbury (formerly Stones River Hospital)
