Ascension Sponsor Names New Officers

Gino Pazzaglini, Chair of the Ascension Sponsor for the past four years, has announced new officers for the period from July 1, 2016, to June 30, 2018. The incoming officers will be:

  • Chair: Sr. Mary Anne Rodgers, CSJ, replacing Gino in the role
  • Vice Chair: Jack Logue, replacing Sr. Mary Walz, DC
  • Secretary/Treasurer: Sr. Mary Kay Hadican, CSJ, replacing Sr. Mary Anne Rodgers, CSJ

"I speak for both myself and Sr. Mary Walz when I say it has been a blessing and a privilege for us to serve in our leadership positions thanks to the help and support of the other members of the Ascension Sponsor," Gino said. "She and I will continue to serve as members, and we will do all we can to ensure the new officers enjoy their time in these roles as much as we have.

The Ascension Sponsor includes both laypersons and members of the historical sponsors of Ascension and its health ministries across the country – the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, Congregation of St. Joseph, Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, Alexian Brothers and Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother. The Ascension Sponsor is a ministerial public juridic person, an entity through which a ministry relates directly to the Roman Catholic Church. One of the responsibilities of the Ascension Sponsor is to appoint the members of the Ascension Board of Directors.

"I want especially to congratulate and thank Sr. Mary Anne for agreeing to serve as Chair," Gino said. "Under her guidance, the Ascension Sponsor will continue to prayerfully shepherd our national health ministry, ensuring we remain true to the vision of our founders and our Mission rooted in the loving ministry of Jesus as healer."

Also on July 1, the Ascension Sponsor will welcome its newest member: Zeni Fox, PhD, Professor Emerita of Pastoral Theology, Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology, Seton Hall University, Orange, New Jersey.
