Pamela Hess New Chief Financial Officer in Jacksonville, Florida

Pamela Hess has been named Chief Financial Officer of St. Vincent’s HealthCare in the Ascension Jacksonville Ministry Market.

Pam has served as Chief Financial Officer of Saint Thomas West and Saint Thomas Midtown hospitals, part of Saint Thomas Health in Nashville, in the Tennessee Ministry Market, where she standardized and streamlined numerous processes to improve the health system’s finances in support of Ascension’s Mission to provide compassionate, personalized care to all, with special attention to persons living in poverty and those most vulnerable.

“Pam will be an invaluable asset and contributor to our exceptional team here in Jacksonville,” said Tom VanOsdol, System Chief Operating Officer of St. Vincent’s HealthCare. “I’m excited for her to experience the strength and breadth of our wonderful, historic health ministry first-hand, and I’m equally looking forward to her infusion of new ideas to extend our reach and help us care for even more individuals throughout our community and region.”

Throughout her more than 20 years in finance, Pam has served as an auditor, financial analyst, and in various financial director roles. For the last five years, she has served as Chief Financial Officer of various hospitals within Saint Thomas Health. Last year, Becker’s Hospital Review named her one of the 13 standout healthcare CFOs and in 2015 and 2016 one of “150 Hospital and Health System CFOs to Know.”

“I’ve worked in both the non-profit and for-profit worlds and I love the non-profit culture. While I’m ultimately responsible for the financial state of the health system, I love that the focus is on helping people,” Pam said. “I am most excited about the opportunity to learn about the Jacksonville community and to get to know my new colleagues. I can’t wait to find ways to work together to make St. Vincent’s financial outlook even brighter than it already is.”

In joining St. Vincent’s HealthCare, Hess remains part of Ascension’s integrated Finance team. The national health ministry’s transition to a more aligned structure creates more consistency, enables the sharing of best practices, supports its Mission of care to all with special attention to persons living in poverty and those most vulnerable.

“Pamela is an accomplished healthcare executive who will provide strategic financial counsel and oversee financial operations for St. Vincent’s while continuing to be an important part of the overall Ascension Finance function,” said Rhonda Anderson, Chief Financial Officer for Ascension Health. “With her proven leadership within our Nashville health system, I look forward to Pamela’s contributions to ensure the ongoing financial stability of our Jacksonville health ministry so it can continue to serve the changing and growing needs of the community.”

She will begin her duties at St. Vincent’s on July 18.
