MissionPoint Health Partners, part of Ascension Care Management based in Nashville, Tennessee, was featured recently in “Ministry members, employers partner on direct contracts” in the Catholic Health Association publication “Catholic Health World.”
The article explains that a growing number of healthcare systems, including Catholic healthcare systems, are negotiating directly with self-insured employers to provide services. The advantage for the health systems is the ability to provide care to a large number of patients. The advantage for employers in contracting directly with healthcare providers is that they are able to personalize the healthcare to meet their organization’s needs. The employers are able to provide quality services for their employees and their dependents while keeping the costs of those services low.
To provide better care at lower costs, MissionPoint works to eliminate barriers to care and to identify where patients need more resources. “The things that we have found to be beneficial are the things that impact you as a human being versus those that just impact your disease state,” says Jordan Asher, MD, MissionPoint’s Chief Clinical Officer and Chief Innovation Officer.
MissionPoint’s approach to contracting directly with employers has proven effective. Earlier this year, MissionPoint announced that it had saved Saint Thomas Health, in the Ascension Tennessee Ministry Market, more than $11 million in healthcare costs over four years.
