Ascension’s community health services in Louisiana, Arkansas and Texas will take on a new name – Ascension DePaul Services from Daughters of Charity Services. Community health services, education services and neighborhood-based programs will adopt the Ascension logo as part of their new name.
The Daughters of Charity established the community centers to serve those who are poor and vulnerable with unique services and models of care. The care sites that serve those most in need in Arkansas and Louisiana will operate at DePaul Community Health Centers, while sites in San Antonio, Texas, will be known as Ascension DePaul Services. The services, programs and commitment to the community will stay the same, but will now draw upon the legacy of the name DePaul, which still holds rich significance in these communities and honors St. Vincent de Paul, one of the Daughters of Charity founders.
“Daughters of Charity Services has been part of Ascension for nearly 20 years,” said Nick Ragone, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, Ascension. “Bringing them together, under the Ascension name, advances our Mission and strengthens our efforts to connect our care and reduce disparities in healthcare.”
The Daughters of Charity Province of St. Louise fully supports and worked collaboratively with community health center senior leaders on the new name, which appropriately represents sponsorship for the health services.
“Our Mission to improve the health and well-being of our community remains steadfast and will be strengthened by this new name, which ties directly to St. Vincent de Paul’s passion to care for the sick and those living in poverty,” said Julie Eckstein, Associate Vice President of Community Health, Ascension.
Patients will continue to see the doctor they know and trust, and the new name reflects the fact that each physician is connected to other experts and specialists across the country, all dedicated to providing care specific to each patient’s individual needs.
