Former NFL star Peyton Manning was filming an ad at Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis, part of Ascension Indiana, when he made a surprise visit to a young fan.
Violet Rich, an 8-year-old undergoing treatment for leukemia, was staying in a room decorated with a Manning theme that was going to be used in the ad campaign. Violet and her family had to move out of the room while filming was completed. Afterward, Manning asked to visit with Violet, an Indianapolis Colts fan who earlier had written to the former quarterback.
“With everything going on, it was a really difficult and intense time for her,” her mother, Audra, told the Noblesville Times. “It was really nice of him to come see her. It made her really excited.”
Peyton posed for photos and autographed a hat for Violet.
