Ascension Wisconsin doctor receives EMS Physician of the Year award

The Wisconsin Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Association recognized Michael Curtis, MD, as the EMS Physician of the Year.

With more than 25 years of experience at Ascension St. Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point and Ascension St. Clare’s Hospital in Weston, Dr. Curtis has dedicated his career to working with EMS, fire service, law enforcement and emergency management.

During his tenure as the EMS Medical Director at Ascension St. Michael’s and Ascension St. Clare’s, he has earned a record of contribution, impact and leadership in the field.

Dr. Curtis teaches EMS-related classes at various technical colleges in central Wisconsin and the Fox Valley, volunteers on medical mission trips to Guatemala and Colombia, and served as a certified medical review officer for Ascension Wisconsin at Work.

Ascension Wisconsin dispenses 2,000 life-saving naloxone kits to patients at risk of overdose

Through a collaborative effort between Ascension Wisconsin, the Ascension Wisconsin Foundation, Behavioral Health Services of Racine County and the City of Milwaukee Health Department, Ascension Wisconsin has reached the milestone of dispensing 2,000 nasal naloxone kits statewide to patients at risk of opioid overdose, free of charge.
