Dr. Joe Cacchione, Amy Wilson on list of most influential clinical executives

Joseph Cacchione, MD, FACC, Executive Vice President, Clinical & Network Services, Ascension, and Amy Wilson, DNP, RN, CPHQ, Senior Vice President, Nursing Center of Excellence, have been included among this year’s “50 Most Influential Clinical Executives” by industry publication Modern Healthcare. The complete list is featured in the June 21 issue of Modern Healthcare.

The recognition program acknowledges and honors clinicians working in the healthcare industry who are deemed by their peers and an expert panel to be the most influential in terms of demonstrating leadership and impact.

Under Dr. Cacchione’s leadership, CNS unites clinical and care excellence functions and subsidiaries that are core to Ascension’s healing Mission. He has been instrumental in helping coordinate Ascension’s COVID-19 response and recovery efforts, ensuring the provision of compassionate, personalized care across the ministry and bringing COVID-19 vaccines to associates and community members, with special attention to those who are marginalized and vulnerable.

“Ascension is blessed to have Dr. Cacchione leading our efforts in clinical quality and safety on behalf of those we are privileged to serve, and Amy helping lead our efforts to ensure our nurses are operating at the top of their license and bringing joy back to nursing,” said Joseph R. Impicciche, JD, MHA, President and Chief Executive Officer. “This honor is well deserved and reflects not only their expertise, but the dedicated, compassionate and skilled clinical leaders and clinicians across our integrated healing ministry.”

Dr. Cacchione came to Ascension in 2017 to lead Ascension Medical Group and later added oversight of Ascension Michigan. He was responsible for developing a culture of high performance for Ascension’s Michigan Ministry Market and its national medical group.

Prior to joining Ascension, Dr. Cacchione served at the Cleveland Clinic. He began his role as Chairman of Operations and Strategy for the Clinic’s Heart & Vascular Institute. In this capacity, he helped build a high-performing specialty network of providers around the country who contract with the Cleveland Clinic. The network he established now has 5 million lives under contract. Additionally, Dr. Cacchione directed the onboarding of 700 physicians who moved from independent practices to the Cleveland Clinic’s private physician model.
