Ascension Saint Thomas welcomes Betsy Bernstein as the new Vice President and Chief Integration Officer of Joint Ventures

Ascension Saint Thomas is pleased to announce the appointment of Betsy Bernstein as Vice President and Chief Integration Officer of Joint Ventures, succeeding Ruth Portacci who transitioned to a national role earlier this year.

In her new role, Bernstein will lead joint venture relationships, ensuring strategic alignment, operational rigor, clinical integration, performance optimization, and growth. Her extensive experience in health system operations, strategy development, and finance makes her an excellent fit for this position.

Bernstein brings over 20 years of experience in the financial and healthcare industries. Most recently, she served as Chief Operating Officer for Integrative Health Centers, where she managed implementation, partner success, clinical recruiting and operations, and IT functions for 52 partners and over 250 clinics.

Previously, Bernstein has worked for notable companies like JP Morgan Chase & Co. and Goldman Sachs. She also served as a Director in the Special Assets Group at HCA Healthcare, where she was the portfolio lead for HCA’s Health Insight Capital, a venture fund that invests in early- and growth-stage companies aligned with HCA’s strategic priorities.

Bernstein graduated from Princeton University with a bachelor’s degree in Economics. She and her husband have loved living in Nashville for 16 years where they are raising two daughters and spend most of their time at their various sporting events and theater performances. They have two dogs, adopted through the Wags and Walks foster organization, and she enjoys playing as much tennis as her schedule allows for.
