This award highlights their dedication to ensuring that stroke patients receive the most effective treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines, ultimately resulting in more lives saved and a reduction in long-term disability.
Get With The Guidelines brings the expertise of the American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association to hospitals nationwide, helping to align patient care with the latest research and evidence-based practices. The Get With The Guidelines - Stroke program aims to improve in-hospital stroke care by promoting consistent adherence to these guidelines, which can significantly reduce the long-term effects of a stroke and even prevent death.
In addition to the Gold Plus award, Ascension Saint Thomas West and Rutherford Hospitals were also recognized with the American Heart Association’s Target: Stroke Honor Roll Award, and Ascension Saint Thomas Midtown received the Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite Plus Award for meeting specific criteria that minimize the time between a patient’s arrival at the hospital and the initiation of thrombolytic therapy.
Furthermore, Ascension Saint Thomas Midtown received the American Heart Association’s Target: Stroke Honor Roll Advanced Therapy Award by consistently reducing the time between a patient’s arrival and the treatment required to remove the clot causing the stroke.
