Ascension Names Rob Rose as new Senior Vice President of Nursing and Chief Nursing Officer

Ascension, one of the nation’s largest non-profit and Catholic health systems, announced that Rob Rose, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, has joined the organization as Senior Vice President of Nursing and Chief Nursing Officer.

In his role, Rob will lead Ascension’s national nursing strategy—focused on strengthening workforce well-being, supporting talent development and retention and advancing care through clinical innovation. He brings experience leading large, mission-driven nursing communities, most recently serving as Market Chief Nurse Executive for Atrium Health, where he oversaw nursing practice across 700 care locations and 20 hospitals.

“I am honored to join a health ministry so rooted in compassion, service and human dignity,” said Rob Rose. “As I take on this new role, I am committed to elevating the voices of our nurses, advancing technology that improves outcomes and fostering an environment where all nurses feel supported to grow and lead.”

Rob began his healthcare journey in a Catholic hospital and has devoted over half his career to Catholic Healthcare. Before joining Atrium Health in 2018, Rob served as Senior Vice President Patient Care Services and Chief Nurse Executive for the Northeast Texas Region of Christus Trinity Mother Frances Hospitals and Clinics in Tyler, Texas.

Rob earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the State University of New York Utica-Rome, a Master of Science in Health Care Administration from the California College for Health Sciences and a Nursing Doctorate from the University of Texas at Tyler School of Nursing. He also holds board certification in Nursing Administration.

“We are fortunate to welcome Rob to Ascension and look forward to his leadership,” said Sally Deitch, Executive Vice President, Nursing and Operations Infrastructure. “His collaborative spirit and deep dedication to nurse empowerment will help strengthen our shared commitment to ‘Caring with Strength, Healing with Heart.”

This leadership transition follows the upcoming retirement of Maureen Chadwick, Ascension’s longtime Senior Vice President of Nursing and Chief Nursing Officer, who concludes her tenure on June 30, 2025.

“I am incredibly grateful for the journey I have had with Ascension and confident in Rob’s ability to carry this work forward,” said Maureen Chadwick. “It has been a privilege to serve alongside such dedicated nurses.”
