Celebrating the Future of Care: Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at Ascension St. Vincent Unveils New Pediatric Emergency Department and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit as Fundraising Campaign Concludes

The Ascension St. Vincent Foundation proudly marked the successful completion of its Care for Tomorrow campaign, which has raised more than $48 million to support the new Women and Infants Hospital and the patients and families it serves. To mark this achievement, the Foundation hosted a special celebration at the hospital, honoring the generosity and dedication of the community, donors and healthcare leaders who made this milestone possible.

The event featured the unveiling of a statue honoring Peyton Manning for his exceptional leadership and commitment to the campaign, as well as a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly relocated and expanded Hilbert Pediatric Emergency Department and expanded Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), both key milestones in the hospital’s commitment to enhancing healthcare outcomes for Indiana’s youngest patients. Attendees also toured the Indianapolis Colts Courtyard, a new respite space made possible through donor support.

Healthcare officials across central Indiana have recognized the new facilities as vital statewide assets, enhancing the continuum of care for mothers, infants and families while reinforcing Ascension St. Vincent’s commitment to compassionate and cutting-edge medical services.

"This celebration is a testament to our dedication to delivering world-class, compassionate care to every patient who walks through our doors," said Stephan Masoncup, JD, Chief Strategy Officer at Ascension St. Vincent. "With the opening of the new Women and Infants Hospital, along with expanded pediatric cardiovascular services and the newly relocated Hilbert Pediatric Emergency Department at Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital, we are ensuring families across Indiana have access to the highest level of specialized care delivered close to home. We are honored to continue this important work of caring for the health and well-being of our community."

  • One of the state’s largest pediatric emergency departments
  • 22 total care spaces, including:
    • Two trauma rooms equipped with state-of-the-art equipment like red access lighting to make veins more visible through the skin for procedures like IV access and blood draws

    • Two comfort-focused procedure rooms designed to help children feel at ease prior to necessary medical tests like MRIs
    • Two behavioral health rooms thoughtfully designed to protect children in mental distress while healthcare providers assess their needs and determine the best course of action
  • Verified Level I Pediatric and Adult Trauma Center, treating entire families on one campus

Expanded Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (ICU) features:

  • Eight new ICU beds, bringing the total to 22
  • New rooms primarily dedicated to pediatric cardiovascular intensive care will support our growing pediatric heart program – providing specialized care for our tiniest heart patients while maintaining the flexibility to meet the full spectrum of PICU needs
  • Fully equipped to perform life-saving emergency bedside surgeries, ensuring immediate care when every second counts
  • Two negative pressure isolation rooms to enhance infection control, safeguarding patients, families and caregivers by preventing the spread of airborne contaminants
  • State-of-the-art equipment, including operating booms in each patient room, optimized lighting and top-tier resources, supported by an expert multidisciplinary team
