Joseph Wysocki will serve as Via Christi’s Chief Mission Integration Officer (CMIO), effective July 7.
In this role, Joe will lead efforts to integrate Via Christi’s Catholic Mission and Identity across its hospitals and sites of care in Kansas. He will partner with clinical and operational leaders to ensure the Mission continues to guide all aspects of care and decision-making, with a particular focus on spiritual care, ethics, and ministry formation in order to strengthen the foundation of Catholic healthcare across Kansas communities.
In this executive role, which is unique to Catholic health care, Wysocki will support our identity as a ministry of the Catholic Church through upholding the Ethical and Religious Directives of Catholic Health Care Services, holistic approaches to care, enhanced communications and our strong relationships with our Dioceses.
Joe comes to Kansas with extensive experience in Catholic healthcare ministry. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Mission Integration at a Catholic health system in St. Louis, Missouri. Prior to that, he held a variety of Mission leadership roles within Ascension, as well as serving as Director of University Ministry at the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois.
“Joe’s leadership will bring a fresh perspective to enhancing spiritual care, deepening community engagement and ensuring that every patient encounter reflects the compassion and dignity at the heart of Via Christi’s Mission,” said Kevin Strecker, Ministry Market Executive, Ascension Kansas. “His deep understanding of Catholic health care and commitment to our Mission will be vital as we continue to serve those most in need with compassion and dignity.”
Joe earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Notre Dame, a Master of Arts in Theology from Catholic Theological Union in Chicago, and an Executive Master of Business Administration from the Quantic School of Business and Technology in Washington, D.C.
He succeeds Bob Smoot, who has served as interim CMIO for the past six months. Smoot will continue to support Via Christi during the transition.
