Ascension Saint Thomas Announces Addition of Tennessee Oncology and Tennessee Orthopaedic Alliance to New 96-Acre Campus Development in Clarksville

Ascension Saint Thomas announced the addition of two of Tennessee’s most respected physician groups, Tennessee Oncology and Tennessee Orthopaedic Alliance (TOA), to the development of a new 96-acre health campus in Clarksville. The campus is slated to be the future home of Ascension Saint Thomas Clarksville Hospital, pending state approval.

The collaboration brings together three leading healthcare organizations with a shared vision to deliver accessible, high-quality care for the Clarksville-Montgomery County region. The integrated health campus will feature specialty care, outpatient services and a new full-service hospital, designed for future growth to meet the community’s evolving needs.

Located at the intersection of Highway 76 and Interstate 24, the site is being master-planned to include a hospital that will anchor a comprehensive, community-focused campus. The development aims to expand specialized services and improve access across the region.

The planned campus will offer a broad range of services including emergency care, inpatient and outpatient surgery, cardiology, oncology, women’s health and NICU care, orthopedics, advanced imaging and coordinated outpatient services. The design prioritizes reduced travel time, improved care coordination and expanded access to trusted services close to home.

Ascension Saint Thomas, which operates 18 hospitals and more than 320 care sites across Middle Tennessee, remains committed to addressing regional healthcare needs through thoughtful growth and collaboration.

“We are excited to bring together the vision and expertise of Tennessee Oncology and Tennessee Orthopaedic Alliance to meet the needs of Clarksville-Montgomery County,” said Fahad Tahir, president and CEO of Ascension Saint Thomas. “Together with our physician partners and community leaders, we are designing a health campus that prioritizes access to nationally recognized care, advanced technology and essential services within the community.”

Tennessee Oncology, one of the nation’s largest physician-owned oncology practices, is a leader in innovative cancer treatment, clinical trials and personalized care throughout Tennessee and the Southeast.

“We are proud to be part of this collaborative effort to expand access to world-class cancer care in Montgomery County alongside Ascension Saint Thomas,” said Dr. Natalie Dickson, president and CEO of Tennessee Oncology. “We have long served Clarksville residents and are excited to grow our presence and provide more families with expert cancer care close to home.”

Tennessee Orthopaedic Alliance, the state’s largest orthopedic surgery group, is nationally recognized for excellence in musculoskeletal and sports medicine.

“TOA is honored to join Ascension Saint Thomas in developing this integrated health campus,” said Rob Simmons, CEO of Tennessee Orthopaedic Alliance. “We look forward to expanding our commitment to the Clarksville community by bringing our expertise in orthopedic and musculoskeletal care to the new campus.”

Ascension Saint Thomas is investing $148.5 million in the proposed hospital, which will serve as the foundation of the larger community-centered health campus. The project is expected to create about 250 new healthcare jobs and significantly expand care options for residents across the region. Ascension Saint Thomas has served the area since 2005 and currently operates 14 care locations in Montgomery County.

A public hearing for the Certificate of Need application is scheduled for July 23 before the Tennessee Health Facilities Commission. Community members are encouraged to attend and share their support for expanded healthcare access in Clarksville.
