Saint Agnes Hospital Strike Contingency Plan Update

National Nurses United (NNU) issued Saint Agnes a notice of intent to strike indicating the registered nurses (RNs) it represents will conduct a one-day strike from 7:00 a.m. on July 24, 2025, to 7:00 a.m. on July 25, 2025. This decision not only undermines the progress of negotiations between Saint Agnes and NNU, but also creates unnecessary hardship for our associates and their families, as well as concern for our patients and their loved ones.

At Saint Agnes, providing safe, quality care remains our top priority. We are fully prepared to remain open and continue providing compassionate, quality care during this short-term strike. A comprehensive contingency plan is in place to ensure there is no disruption in care or service for those we are privileged to serve.

In order to fulfill our commitment to providing uninterrupted, quality care for our patients, we have contracted with a staffing agency specializing in work stoppage events, ensuring access to a full complement of highly skilled, credentialed registered nurses.

For those Saint Agnes nurses who wish to continue caring for their patients during the one-day strike, we welcome them, provided they commit to working their regularly scheduled shift between 7 a.m., Thursday, July 24, through 7 a.m., Friday, July 25, 2025. Represented registered nurses should notify their manager by July 21 if they intend to work their regularly-scheduled shift during the one-day strike.

Saint Agnes would prefer not to utilize these extended contracted services. However, we must make every provision to ensure the health and safety of our patients, families, providers and associates during NNU’s short-term strike.
