Ascension Releases 2025 Ministry in Action Report Highlighting More than 4.1 Million Lives Served in FY25

Ascension, one of the nation’s largest non-profit and Catholic health systems, today released its 2025 Ministry in Action Report, highlighting the organization’s continued commitment to providing quality care and expanding access, improving consumer experiences, serving communities and supporting workforce development, all in alignment with its Mission.

Over the last year, Ascension served over 4.1 million lives and provided $1.7 billion in care of persons living in poverty and other community benefit programs along with $1.8 billion of unreimbursed care for Medicare patients, all through the programs and services outlined in the report. During this time, Ascension achieved its highest-ever CMS Star Ratings while Net Promoter Scores (NPS) also reached record levels, reflecting a deep commitment to both quality care and the patient experience.

“As the world of healthcare continues to evolve and grow, Ascension remains steadfast in our mission to serve those most in need,” said Joseph Impicciche, JD, MHA, Chief Executive Officer of Ascension. We are committed to meeting our patients where they are outside our facility walls through all the Mission-driven initiatives and innovations outlined in this report. Above all, we are focused on people - our workforce, our patients and our communities.”

The organization also advanced major growth initiatives to expand access. Most notably, in June, Ascension agreed to acquire AMSURG, which, once the transaction is complete, will add more than 250 ambulatory surgery centers in 34 states to increase outpatient care in gastroenterology, ophthalmology and orthopedics. The initiatives highlighted in this report outline Ascension’s growth strategy that focuses on deepening the investments in the communities we serve and expanding access to quality cost effective care.

The report also outlines how Ascension is continuing to shape a Mission-rooted work environment that focuses on people. Ascension is also supporting its workforce by investing in new technologies and innovations that reduce administrative burden and allow clinicians and nurses to spend more time serving patients.

“At Ascension, every decision starts with our Mission,” said Eduardo Conrado, President of Ascension. “We’re continuing to invest in our people, our facilities, and the technology that strengthens the connection between caregivers and patients. When we do that well, we not only improve the care experience but also build healthier, more resilient communities. This report reflects how we’re adapting and growing while staying true to who we are and why we serve.”
