Ascension St. Vincent's Named a 100 Top Hospital

The Ascension St. Vincent’s hospital in Clay County has been recognized by IBM Watson as one of its 100 Top Hospitals. On March 4, IBM Watson released its yearly list of top hospitals. The study spotlights the best-performing hospitals in the country based on a balanced scorecard using publicly available data for clinical, operational, and patient satisfaction metrics.

The study has been conducted each year since 1993. Researchers evaluated 3,156 short-term, acute care, non-federal U.S. hospital. Hospitals do not apply for this award.

Ascension St. Vincent’s Clay also was named this year as a 5-star hospital by The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) on its Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings. and recognized three Ascension Florida hospitals as five-star hospitals.

Hospitals nationwide received ratings from one to five stars – with five stars being the highest score – based on how well they perform on a range of inpatient and outpatient quality measures. The Star Ratings methodology takes 59 quality measures reported on CMS’ Hospital Compare website and condenses all the data into a single rating on a scale of one to five stars. The 59 measures tracked by CMS include death rates, safety, readmissions, infection rates, patient experience ratings, and timeliness of care, among others.
