Nick Ragone Joins Board of American Lung Association in Missouri

Nick Ragone, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing and Communications Officer of Ascension, has been elected to a three-year term on the Board of Directors of the American Lung Association in Missouri, effective August 14, 2019. Earlier this year Ragone was appointed to the Missouri Board of Health and Senior Services by Missouri Governor Mike Parson.

“It’s an honor to join the board for the American Lung Association in Missouri,” Ragone said. “Being able to serve on this board and help find solutions to lung-related diseases is personal for me. My father died of lung cancer over a decade ago, and I want to help other families avoid the pain and anguish that comes from this horrible disease and other lung maladies.”

He added, “As a member of the Missouri State Board of Health and Senior Services, I will also advocate for public policies that help to reduce incidents of lung disease among Missourians.”

“Nick is an incredible asset to our local work at the Lung Association. His insight and experience will help us in our mission to raise awareness for lung cancer in Missouri, reduce smoking rates and ensure that we all have clean air to breathe,” said Brett Schuette, Executive Director for the Lung Association. “Thanks to the service of Nick and our other Leadership Board Members, we are helping Missouri residents breathe a little easier.”

The American Lung Association is the leading organization working to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease through education, advocacy and research. Members of its Board of Directors donate their time to help plan and achieve the organization’s goals.

An active member of the community, Ragone was instrumental in developing Your Move Chess, an after-school chess program for underserved students in the St. Louis region beginning with the Ferguson-Florissant School District, in partnership with the Saint Louis Chess Club. He is also an active fundraiser for St. Louis non-profits Marygrove and Covenant House Missouri, and serves on the board of Project Lead the Way, a leading nonprofit organization that provides transformative learning experience for PreK-12 students and teachers across the U.S. In addition, he is a board member for the First Tee of Greater St. Louis, a youth development organization introducing the game of golf and its inherent values to young people.
