The Ascension Sacred Heart Foundation in Wisconsin recently worked with Northwoods Vineyard Church to coordinate a health fair in the Tomahawk, Wisconsin, community.
This year’s event set a patient attendance record, with 121 people receiving 336 individualized appointments. Eric Dichsen, MD, an Ascension Medical Group emergency medicine physician, was a key advocate in organizing the health fair with his local church.
Three years ago, Northwoods Vineyard Church wanted to coordinate a health fair but was lacking laboratory services to do so. Dr. Dichsen, presented this need to the Ascension Sacred Heart Foundation, which began donating funds to cover the lab tests and advertising for the event.
Services offered at this year’s health fair included glucose and cholesterol testing, medical and blood pressure checks, podiatry, optometry, chiropractic screenings, hearing screens, dietitian visits, and physical therapy.
“At the end of the day, everyone’s heart is in the same place. We just want to do something good for those in need,” said Jonathon Matuszewski, Interim Vice President of Operations, Ascension St. Mary’s and Ascension Sacred Heart, part of Ascension Wisconsin.
