Two Ascension Wisconsin Hospitals Earn Top Hospital Safety Grades

Ascension St. Joseph Hospital and Ascension St. Elizabeth Hospital have each earned an "A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit focused on patient safety. Leapfrog assigns letter grades to general hospitals across the country based on more than 22 performance measures reflecting accidents, errors, injuries and infections, as well as the systems and protocols hospitals have in place to prevent them.

“Earning a Leapfrog Grade ‘A’ for the fourth consecutive time reflects the unwavering dedication of our physicians and associates. Their commitment to excellence continues to strengthen our identity as a truly Community Centered, Quality Focused hospital. This recognition by Leapfrog communicates why Ascension St. Joseph is one of the leading hospitals in the U.S.,” said Shana Crittenden, president, Ascension St. Joseph Hospital. “Our patients can be confident that when they come to St. Joe’s, they are receiving care at not just one of the safest hospitals in the area, but in the nation."

"Our medical staff and hospital teams devote themselves every day to ensuring our patients receive the safest and highest quality care possible," said Michael Bergmann, president, Ascension St. Elizabeth Hospital. “We put the patient at the center of everything we do, and strive to provide expert, compassionate care to our communities. Accolades such as this Leapfrog “A” safety grade acknowledge our teams’ efforts, and I’m so appreciative for their exceptional care.”

Each year, Ascension establishes clinical priority goals that guide multidisciplinary teams in advancing system-wide initiatives. In striving to exceed these goals, Ascension remains dedicated to delivering the highest standards of safety, quality, and access through strengthened capabilities and processes.
