Ascension St. Vincent is expanding its cancer care center in Indianapolis for a new piece of radiation therapy equipment.
The cancer care building will be increased by about 3,700 square feet to make room for a third medical linear accelerator, which delivers high-energy waves or particles to destroy cancer cells.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Development Commission recently approved Ascension St. Vincent's application for the project, which will include updated landscaping, signage, more parking and other site improvements.
The project is expected to be completed next summer.
