Ascension Wisconsin building clinic for primary and women’s health services

Ascension Wisconsin is building a new clinic to provide primary care and women’s health services in Milwaukee’s 3rd Ward. The 11,000-square-foot clinic is part of Ascension Wisconsin’s ambulatory strategy to create more convenient and affordable access points for patients throughout the state.

The Ascension Medical Group at Third Ward clinic will provide primary care, women’s health, lab, X-ray and ultrasound services, and represents an investment of $7.4 million.

“We’re excited to bring more expansive services to the 3rd Ward community, including the addition of women’s health services, the latest imaging technology and design elements that will enhance the patient and family experience,” said Bernie Sherry, Senior Vice President, Ascension, and Ministry Market Executive, Ascension Wisconsin.

“This new clinical space will expand access to primary care services and bring women’s health services closer to home for the vibrant, growing 3rd Ward community,” said Doug Culling, DO, Clinical President of Ascension Medical Group Wisconsin.

Construction of the facility is expected to begin in early 2020, and the clinic is projected to open later this year. The clinic is expected to include 20 new full-time and part-time associates.

The 3rd Ward clinic’s location is the historic Milwaukee Fire Engine Company No. 10 building. Design of the clinic will incorporate historical elements from the three-story red brick building, which was constructed in 1893, according to the Wisconsin Historical Society. The building is architecturally significant as an intact firehouse with fine details, the society said.
