Ascension President and Chief Executive Officer Joseph R. Impicciche, JD, MHA, recently traveled to the Vatican for meetings, including an opportunity to meet with His Holiness Pope Francis, leader of the Roman Catholic Church. The work of Ascension is guided by its identity as a healing ministry of the Church and its Mission rooted in the loving ministry of Jesus as healer.
“Our connection to the Vatican is much more than a matter of canon law,” Joe said. “It is a connection to the Church’s commitment to healthcare ministry and the distinctive Catholic identity Ascension brings as a living expression of God’s word and work in our world.”
“Ascension’s primary focus, which I am blessed to continue shepherding in my role, is building on our commitment to the Mission of serving those most in need,” he said.
In its last fiscal year Ascension provided more than $2 billion in care for persons living in poverty and other community benefits programs, which are designed to reach some of the most vulnerable people in the communities Ascension serves.
