Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Westlawn in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, hosted a community open house at the new hospital, which serves as a satellite campus of Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford located just 4.9 miles away.
“The concept creates greater accessibility for lower-acuity hospitalization, observation and physician-led ER services,” hospital administrator Brittany Urso told the Daily News Journal.
The 32,000-square-foot hospital includes eight inpatient rooms, two waiting rooms and two nurses stations. Its emergency department is staffed with board-certified emergency medicine physicians who will serve the community 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The hospital provides diagnostic imaging including X-ray and CT scans, as well as laboratory, pharmacy and telemedicine services.
“Community members will have additional access to a high-quality emergency department and inpatient services in the convenience of their own neighborhood,” Brittany said.
Mike Moyers, a Tennessee artist, produced Jesus-centered art for the hospital, such as a “Jesus washing the feet” canvas.
