Ascension All Saints Hospital and local EMS services receive Coverdell Partners in Stroke Care Award

Ascension All Saints Hospital and local EMS services receive Coverdell Partners in Stroke Care Award

In March, 2025, Ascension All Saints Hospital received the Coverdell Partners in Stroke Care Award, alongside the Racine, Caledonia, and South Shore Fire Departments, the All Saints Stroke Support Group, and Gateway Technical College. This prestigious recognition highlights the collaborative efforts between Coverdell hospitals, EMS, and community-based organizations to enhance stroke care and make a meaningful impact in the community.

The Partners in Stroke Care Award is given to Wisconsin community-based organizations, emergency medical service agencies, and hospitals that demonstrate a high level of communication and collaboration. This includes efforts to prevent, address, and improve stroke outcomes for patients. The award also considers local partnerships, as well as community stroke education and wellness programs.

“Stroke care requires a dedicated and collaborative team,” Hollie Landreman, Ascension All Saints stroke coordinator said. “That is exactly what is happening here in Racine, and these partnerships are directly impacting our community in a positive way.”

Ascension All Saints Hospital has been a Coverdell Partner Hospital since it became Joint Commission certified as a Primary Stroke Center in 2013. The Racine, Caledonia, and South Shore Fire Departments serve 69% of the population in Racine County and are also Coverdell EMS Partners.

The Racine Fire Department has partnered with the Coverdell Stroke Program and Ascension All Saints Hospital through the Mobile Integrated Health (MIH) program for stroke patients since May 2022. With new Coverdell grant cycles, the program has expanded, with the Racine Fire Department now collaborating with Caledonia and South Shore chiefs to also assist stroke patients in their jurisdictions.

“Ascension All Saints is proud to be a part of the Racine community, and we remain committed to working together and continuously improving stroke care,” said Landreman. “The partnerships between Ascension All Saints and our prehospital providers continue to strengthen, and together, as one unified team, we can achieve the best outcomes for our patients and community.”
