Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin hosted robotic mobile experience featuring transformative technologies

Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin hosted a robotic thoracic, surgical oncology and multi-specialty mobile experience featuring transformative health care technologies. The experience featured Intuitive robots, including Ion and DV5, and provided an opportunity to engage with the technology first hand and meet the doctors using the technology to care for patients.

Our growing robotics program offers opportunities for better patient outcomes, less physical stress on surgical teams and high-value training for the next generation of medical professionals. Eight of our 13 acute care hospitals use a total of 20 robotic surgical systems that function as high-tech hands for surgeons. An additional 14 robotic tools assist in orthopedic surgeries across the market, bringing our total robotic fleet to 34 robots and growing.

Last year, surgeons across Ascension Texas performed nearly 6,000 robotic procedures - an 8.4 percent increase over the previous year.

“This technology – the visualization, the robot’s ability to intricately sew, suture and cut precisely – takes surgery to another level,” Kaczmarek said. “It offers a platform to provide patients with surgeries that quite honestly before this may not have even been possible.”
