Dell Children’s Medical Center Hosts 10th Annual “Super Hero Day”

Dell Children’s Medical Center Hosts 10th Annual “Super Hero Day”

Ascension's Dell Children’s Medical Center and the City of Austin Police Department teamed up again to host the 10th annual “Super Hero Day.” During the event, APD officers, Dell Children’s associates and physicians were dressed as “superheroes” and “villains” during an action-packed, live show for patients, including Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Spiderman, Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Captain America, The Flash, Black Panther, Falcon, Hawkeye, Wasp, Penguin, and Joker.

"Being in the hospital is stressful for our patients, for our families, and having a day like this where the community comes in and helps to bring joy and some fun to our patients makes such a huge difference." said Robyn Moyer, Director of Child Life and Expressive Therapies at Dell Children's.

The incredibly brave patients and families were able to watch the event from their rooms, hallways and courtyard as the costumed heroes flew in on a helicopter and rappelled down walls to capture and defeat the villains. After the live performance, patients and families were invited to attend a “meet and greet” with all of the heroes and villains where they were given the opportunity to get autographs and photos with each of the characters and pick up some gifts from one of our sponsors H-E-B.

A special thank you to the Austin Police Department, Dell Children’s physicians and associates and Dell Children’s Foundation for all of their efforts to put on another memorable event for our patients.
