The Bonaventure House, as part of Ascension Health’s Housing & Health Alliance, is excited to announce it has been awarded ViiV Healthcare’s Positive Action Community Grants, totaling $30,000 and broadly aimed to improve engagement for prevention and care opportunities and to help build trust in the healthcare available to communities most disproportionately impacted by HIV.
Bonaventure House is a licensed recovery home that supports patients for up to 18 months as they begin their journey of sobriety. ViiV's support will go towards toxicology and breathalyzer supplies for Bonaventure residents early in their sobriety journey. This grant will support Bonaventure House's mission to provide sober living for people living with chronic medical conditions.
"This generous grant will provide necessary supplies that support a sober life for our clients,” said Mona Hornsby, Executive Director of Ascension Health Housing & Health Alliance. “ViiV has been an ongoing partner in Bonaventure House's mission to serve clients with chronic medical conditions through their recovery journey.”
Transitional and permanent housing opportunities have long been a pivotal offering of the holistic healthcare offered by Ascension Illinois. The Bonaventure House in particular provides everything someone may need to build an independent life on their journey through sobriety and support, including food and nutrition services, 24/7 staffing and a learning center.
The house’s residents foster a supportive family atmosphere and a strong sense of community as they help each other maintain recovery from addiction and substance use disorders. Bonaventure House’s Lakeview location also puts residents within comfortable distance of medical care, recovery services, employment opportunities and public transit.
