Ascension Illinois expanding primary care options at main Chicago hospital

As Ascension Illinois looks to provide the most streamlined patient experience and optimize the space of the Ascension Saint Joseph – Chicago campus, the Ministry is relocating its longstanding Labouré Clinic and Lakeview Internal Medicine Clinic from their current locations in the Manor Professional Building at 2913 N. Commonwealth Ave., to the 10th floor of the main hospital at 2900 N. Lake Shore Dr.

This move provides an enhanced patient experience for the adults and children cared for by the clinic. The new space offers additional space for exam rooms, a renovated waiting area and refurbished seating and other furnishings. In addition, this will bring primary care clinics closer to the specialty services offered within the hospital, such as lab and diagnostic testing services.

Ascension Illinois regularly evaluates the use of its facilities to ensure the best possible experience for its patients, associates and medical providers. Ease of access, functionality and physical environment are all considerations when determining where to locate service areas within our facilities.

“It’s vital that our hospital continues to move forward and make proactive decisions which improve outcomes, optimize operations and improve the overall patient experience. And a clinical centralization like this one will help accomplish all of those,” said Rob Sumter, Ascension Illinois Chief Operating Officer and President of Saint Joseph. “A decision like this is made with the patient at the forefront.”

Each patient’s doctor and care will remain the same through this transition, providing all the same services, and the new location is just steps away from the current clinic, even sharing the same parking garage.

Ultimately, having these clinics on the medical center campus will provide easier access for patients and clinicians.
