U.S. News Ranks Two Via Christi Hospitals as Best Hospitals in Maternity Care

For the fifth consecutive year, Via Christi St. Joseph and Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan have both been named 2026 High Performing hospitals for Maternity Care by U.S. News & World Report, a global authority in hospital rankings and consumer advice. This prestigious designation is the highest recognition a hospital can earn in the annual Best Hospitals for Maternity Care ratings.

U.S. News evaluated approximately 900 hospitals across the United States on multiple quality measures. Both Via Christi St. Joseph and Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan received the High Performing designation based on strong performance in key areas such as C-section rates in lower-risk pregnancies, severe unexpected newborn complication rates, exclusive breast milk feeding rates, and birthing-friendly practices, among other measures.

Additionally, Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan earned the distinction of being named a Maternity Care Access Hospital for its essential role in serving underserved communities at risk of becoming maternity care deserts. Only 147 hospitals—representing just 16% of all evaluated hospitals—earned this distinction for their critical contributions to maternity care access.

Both hospitals have been selected for the U.S. News list every year since the evaluation of maternity care hospitals began in 2021.

The Best Hospitals for Maternity Care ratings are a trusted resource designed to assist expectant parents, in consultation with their prenatal care team, in making informed decisions about where to receive maternity services that best meet their family’s needs.
