Ascension Saint Agnes to Open New Primary Care Practice in Edmondson Village in Fall 2026

Ascension Saint Agnes to Open New Primary Care Practice in Edmondson Village in Fall 2026

Ascension Saint Agnes will bring high-quality healthcare closer to home for community members in West Baltimore with the upcoming Ascension Saint Agnes Primary Care Edmondson Village location, set to open in fall 2026. A community event on Monday, March 30 showcased construction progress and gave a preview of the new facility.

The 5,000-square-foot primary care practice is designed to conveniently serve more than 4,300 patients and accommodate more than 9,300 annual visits.

“For years, community members in West Baltimore have struggled to access primary care services and have faced a higher risk for poor health outcomes, including chronic diseases and lower life expectancy,” said Beau Higginbotham, CEO and President, Ascension Saint Agnes. “Our newest primary care practice in Edmondson Village demonstrates our commitment to improving access to healthcare services and providing compassionate, patient-centered care to those who need it most.”

West Baltimore community members have higher rates of diabetes and hypertension than other Marylanders, turn to the hospital for care at a higher rate than other community members, and more than half of the hospital patients from this community are covered by Medicaid.

Baltimore City’s primary care ratio is just 30 percent, far below surrounding counties, meaning there has been a shortage of primary care providers who treat patients with low incomes and accept Medicaid. Ascension Saint Agnes’ mobile health unit has been serving the West and Southwest Baltimore communities since December 2023 to lower barriers to care. Ascension Saint Agnes’ new primary care practice in Edmondson Village will further close this gap and bring essential services directly to residents.

Services at the new Ascension Saint Agnes Primary Care Edmondson Village location will be tailored to meet the needs of the West Baltimore community, including chronic disease management, behavioral health support and connections to social services. The multidisciplinary care team will include physicians, advanced practice providers, nurse case managers, social workers care coordinators, behavioral health providers and diabetes educators.

Ascension Saint Agnes’ primary care locations in Baltimore, Catonsville, Columbia, Elkridge and Elliott City provide preventive care, manage chronic conditions, and connect patients with specialty care for advanced health conditions.

“Our new primary care practice is more than a facility—it’s a promise of better access, better care and healthier futures for West Baltimore community members," said Higginbotham.

This project is supported by funding from the Maryland Department of Health and the Health Services Cost Review Commission through the Episode Quality Improvement-Primary Care (EQIP-PC) Program.

The new location will be part of the redeveloped Edmondson Village Shopping Center, which is being revitalized by TREND.
