
Christine Kocot McCoy, JD
Christine Kocot McCoy, JD, is the Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Public Affairs Lead for Ascension. In this role she is responsible for Ascension’s Legal, Compliance, Risk and Insurance, Government Affairs and Policy, Public Affairs, External Communications, and Sponsor Relations functions. Ms. McCoy joined Ascension in 2004 and prior to her current role, she served in several roles in the organization in both the Legal and Risk.
Before joining Ascension, Ms. McCoy was with the law firm of Armstrong Teasdale, LLP, where she was a Partner and focused her practice on healthcare litigation and corporate employment matters. Over the course of her more than 30 year career, Ms. McCoy had provided legal counsel both in an in-house capacity and in private practice, including experience in mergers and acquisitions, governance and litigation. Early in her career, she also served in the public sector as an Assistant Attorney General acting as Associate General Counsel for the Missouri Department of Labor, Division of Labor Standards.
Ms. McCoy earned a bachelor’s degree in business from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois, where she was a Livingston C. Lord Presidential Scholar in the School of Business. She went on to obtain her Juris Doctorate at Saint Louis University School of Law in St. Louis. She was recognized in the St. Louis Business Journal as one of the area’s “Most Influential Business Women” in 2007 and as “General Counsel of the Year” in 2021. She currently serves as a member of FM Global’s Board of Directors, a global commercial property insurance company, and is the former Chair of the Marian Middle School Board of Directors, a school focused on serving urban adolescent youth in a faith-based environment.
