Christine Kocot McCoy, JD, is the Executive Vice President and General Counsel for Ascension. In this role she is responsible for providing legal counsel to the organization, Board of Directors and executive management and leading Legal Services for Ascension and its subsidiary organizations. She leads affiliation initiatives; assists with business development activities; and manages outside legal relationships on behalf of Ascension. Earlier she served as Senior Vice President, Legal Services, and Deputy General Counsel.

Before joining Ascension, Ms. McCoy was with the law firm of Armstrong Teasdale, LLP. As Partner, she focused her practice in the areas of medical malpractice and employment litigation, representing hospitals and physicians in malpractice matters in Missouri and Illinois state and federal courts. She also represented management in employment and labor-related matters before federal and state courts and local agencies in Missouri, Illinois, and Washington, D.C.

Prior to joining Armstrong Teasdale, Ms. McCoy served as an Assistant Attorney General acting as Associate General Counsel for the Missouri Department of Labor, Division of Labor Standards.

Ms. McCoy earned a bachelor’s degree in business from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois. She went on to obtain her Juris Doctorate at Saint Louis University School of Law in St. Louis. She is a licensed member of the Missouri and Illinois bar associations and is a member of the Metropolitan St. Louis Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the St. Louis Association of Risk Managers. She was recognized in the St. Louis Business Journal as one of the area’s “Most Influential Business Women” in August 2007.
