New Seton Teaching Hospital Gets $1 Million Donation

H-E-B, which operates more than 380 grocery stores in Texas and Mexico, will contribute $1 million to the capital campaign for Dell Seton Medical Center at The University of Texas. The donation was announced during an unveiling of a mosaic gracing the lobby of the new teaching hospital of Seton Healthcare Family in Austin, in the Ascension Texas Ministry Market.

H-E-B is also a sponsor of the mosaic mural, which depicts a healthy Central Texas as illustrated on thousands of individual art tiles painted by students in the Austin, Dripping Springs and Round Rock school districts; Seton associates; and community members.

On May 21, Seton’s University Medical Center Brackenridge will close its doors and Dell Seton, which was designed with input from more than 500 doctors, nurses, educators, product designers and former patients, will welcome its first patients.

The new hospital will be the main teaching facility for students of Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin, which will soon admit its second class. Dell Seton will provide advanced care for conditions such as stroke, brain disorders and serious injuries.

“It takes strong partners committed to creating a healthier community to bring a vision to life,” said Christann Vasquez, President of Dell Seton. “We’re so grateful to H-E-B for this generous gift and support to help us deliver compassionate, personalized care in Central Texas.”

Because of a shared community-oriented mission, H-E-B has invested more than $7.8 million throughout Seton’s network since 1970.
