Gayle Trupiano, MBA, has been named President and CEO of Ascension Living, the senior services ministry of Ascension, the nation’s largest non-profit and Catholic healthcare system. She will assume the role on September 11, 2017. With 37 facilities in 10 states and the District of Columbia, Ascension Living is a leading non-profit provider of healthcare and related services to seniors.
Trupiano currently serves as Vice President, Performance Excellence, leading efforts around operational and clinical performance with a steadfast commitment to Ascension’s Mission of serving all with special attention to persons living in poverty and those most vulnerable. Earlier she led Ascension’s Operations Resource Group, an internal consulting function supporting Ascension’s 2,500 sites of care in 22 states and Washington, D.C.
Among her accomplishments at Ascension, Trupiano successfully led the deployment of Ascension's Veterans Choice Program. This initiative resulted in providing access to care for 8,867 veterans and 17,378 visits over a 10-month period, while exceeding all quality standards established by the Veterans Administration.
“Gayle is an exceptional servant leader whose commitment to our Mission has been evident throughout her tenure at Ascension,” said Patricia A. Maryland, Dr.PH, Executive Vice President, Ascension, and President and Chief Executive Officer, Ascension Healthcare. “The people we serve through Ascension Living will benefit from her dedication and vision, as will the associates and physicians who provide care for them.”
Trupiano has more than 30 years of progressive management experience in nursing, clinical support services and healthcare administration in acute care hospitals. Prior to joining Ascension in 2004, she served as the Vice President of Patient Care Services at Christian Hospital, a member of BJC Healthcare, in St. Louis. She also spent 10 years as Director of Surgical Services for two different large, acute care facilities.
Trupiano earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Webster University in Missouri and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from University of Maryland. She also participated in the Ascension Foundations of Ministry Leadership program.
Trupiano replaces Jesse Jantzen, who has served as President and CEO of Ascension Living since 2015.
“Jesse has worked tirelessly to ensure that Ascension’s Mission is central to the work of Ascension Living,” Dr. Maryland said. “We want to thank him for his many important contributions in advancing our senior services as an integrated national ministry, uniting Ascension Living under a shared brand and positioning us well to better serve seniors, an important and growing segment of the healthcare continuum.”
