Ascension Kansas leader advocates for Medicaid expansion

Bruce Witt, Chief Advocacy Officer for Ascension Via Christi, recently was interviewed on KWCH to advocate for expansion of KanCare, the Medicaid program of Kansas.

During the in-studio interview, Bruce outlined past legislative actions, bills he expects to see in the coming year and the benefits of expanding Medicaid for Kansas residents.

“It’s an issue we’ve been advocating on behalf of since 2013,” Bruce said. “We expect a bill to be introduced again in 2020.”

“Most importantly it would help 150,000 low-income Kansans get access to coverage, and then we would get them access to healthcare at the right place at the right time rather than coming to the emergency room,” he said.
