Ministries across Ascension have successfully completed their triennial Community Health Needs Assessments (CHNAs) and implementation strategies.
As part of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010, all not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) hospitals are required to conduct a CHNA and adopt an implementation strategy every three years. Conducted in collaboration with community organizations and individuals, CHNAs have the potential to be catalysts for immense community change. The CHNA process serves as a foundation for promoting the health and well-being of the community by identifying the most pressing needs; leveraging existing assets and resources; developing strategic plans; and mobilizing hospital programs and community collaborators to work together.
The CHNAs and accompanying implementation strategies are a reflection of how Ascension values the voice of the community.
“Throughout the CHNA process, special attention was given to the needs of individuals and communities who are more vulnerable, unmet health needs or gaps in services, as well as input gathered from the community,” said Mary Paul, Vice President, Solidarity and Social Accountability, Community Impact, Ascension. “A special thank-you to our entire Community Benefit leadership team for guiding our markets through this important process.”
Community Benefit leadership will begin to review the CHNA implementation strategies, connecting insights and actions to Ascension priorities for optimal service to the communities we serve.
