Ascension Seton recently broke ground on its new women’s tower on Ascension Seton Medical Center campus in Austin, Texas.
The tower will expand access to Ascension Seton’s comprehensive women’s health services in Central Texas with advanced clinical services for women’s health, increased patient capacity, high-quality, optimized care, and academic programs and subspecialty expertise. It will also create additional space where physicians can provide an exceptional patient experience, achieve world-class outcomes, and train the caregivers of tomorrow. The name of the new women’s tower will be announced at a later date.
Morgan Moorhead, a mother who gave birth to twins in Ascension Seton's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, spoke at the groundbreaking about the importance of this new facility.
“With this new center for the community, it can help even more women, even more families that maybe wouldn’t have access,” she told KVUE. “... I think it’s huge for women to have a tower that’s all their own. And it’s obviously for families as well, but to have that kind of safe space community for women is such a big deal.”
The new, comprehensive women’s tower will be located on the south side of the Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin campus. Totaling 325,000 square feet, the tower will feature:
- Patient-centered design.
- Capacity for approximately 7,500 deliveries.
- Private Neonatal Intensive Care Unit rooms.
- C-section suites.
- Areas for minimally invasive gynecologic surgeries.
- Expanded antepartum space.
- Dedicated OB-GYN emergency department.
- Teaching and learning center.
- Growth for other women’s services.
- Additional parking.
Ascension Seton has seen an increased demand for women’s healthcare needs in Central Texas, and the health system continues to grow to meet those needs. The new women’s tower follows other expansions to women’s health services at Ascension Seton, including the expansion of Maternal Fetal Medicine services across Ascension Texas, the addition of the new Comprehensive Fetal Care Center and Specialized Delivery Unit at Dell Children’s Medical Center, Level IV Maternal Designation at Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin, and continued growth of subspecialty gynecology services across the network.
These investments are part of a comprehensive, ongoing plan by Ascension Seton, in partnership with Dell Medical School at the University of Texas and UT Health Austin, to continue expanding care for women in Central Texas.
