Ascension Illinois celebrates the return and service of its volunteers

Ascension Illinois celebrated National Volunteer Week April 16-22. The celebration focused on the official return of volunteers to sites of care after the program had been mostly suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Our volunteers are a hugely important part of our teams. We’re so happy to welcome them back to our hospitals and thank them for service throughout the week,” said Melissa Granato, Associate Vice President of Security, who also oversees the volunteer program. “Our associates really missed our volunteers during COVID, so seeing the program bounce back so quickly has been exciting for everyone involved.”

The Ascension Illinois volunteer program includes more than 850 volunteers who have contributed more than 160,000 combined hours of service. Hospitals across the ministry market honored volunteers with local celebrations.
