Ascension Saint Thomas Welcomes Robert A. McCabe, Jr. to Board of Directors

Ascension Saint Thomas has appointed Robert A. McCabe Jr. to its Board of Directors. McCabe is the chairman and founder of Pinnacle Financial Partners, a company he co-founded in 2000 following a distinguished banking career that began in 1976.

“I appreciate the opportunity to serve Ascension Saint Thomas, an essential health care partner in our community,” McCabe said.

“Rob brings an exceptional depth of experience and a strong record of community impact to our board,” said Fahad Tahir, president and CEO of Ascension Saint Thomas. “His strategic vision in the financial sector and longstanding dedication to public service will provide valuable perspective as we continue to advance our mission of compassionate, personalized care across Middle Tennessee.”

McCabe has held numerous board and leadership roles with organizations including the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, Nashville Symphony, Cheekwood Botanical Gardens, The Ensworth School, and the Nashville Electric Service. He also serves as chairman of National Health Investors (NYSE). Through these roles, he has demonstrated a strong commitment to civic involvement and the region’s ongoing progress. A University of Tennessee alumnus and graduate of the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program, McCabe is widely respected for his contributions to both the business and nonprofit sectors in Tennessee.

His appointment comes at a time of significant growth for Ascension Saint Thomas. As Middle Tennessee’s population increases, the health system is expanding to meet rising demand for accessible, high-quality health care. The organization continues to grow its network through new facilities, services and partnerships that bring care closer to where people live and work.

Ascension Saint Thomas looks forward to McCabe’s insights and leadership in shaping the future of health care and collaboration across sectors in the region.
