Ascension Seton Williamson Achieves Magnet® Recognition with Distinction

Ascension Seton Williamson has achieved Magnet Recognition with Distinction, a designation recognizing the highest performing Magnet organizations around the world that highlights our commitment to nursing excellence, including nursing professionalism, teamwork and superiority in patient care.

The American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program® Magnet with Distinction is based on validated empirical data, and only a select few hospitals achieve this elite level of performance.

Magnet with Distinction celebrates hospitals and healthcare organizations that exceed the scoring thresholds required to attain Magnet designation. It raises the bar to recognize top-tier organizations that have achieved the highest level of nursing excellence while addressing emerging challenges and changes in health care moving forward.

“Magnet Recognition with Distinction provides our community with the ultimate benchmark to measure the quality of patient care,” said Angela Wright, chief nursing officer for Ascension Seton Williamson . “Achieving Magnet with Distinction at Ascension Seton Williamson reinforces a culture of excellence that is a cornerstone of how we serve our community. It’s also tangible evidence of our nurses’ commitment to providing the very best care to our patients, of which we are extremely proud.”

Research demonstrates that Magnet with Distinction provides specific benefits to health care organizations and their communities, such as:

  • Higher patient satisfaction with nurse communication, availability of help and receipt of discharge information.
  • Lower risk of 30-day mortality and lower failure to rescue rates.
  • Higher job satisfaction among nurses.
