Nemours Children's Health and Studer Family Children's Hospital Launch Enhanced Pediatric Care Services in Pensacola

Nemours Children’s Health and Studer Family Children’s Hospital at Ascension Sacred Heart Pensacola have officially launched their new collaboration, ushering in a new era of pediatric healthcare in the region. As a result, children and families in Pensacola and the surrounding community now have access to an enhanced level of subspecialty care services. This collaboration brings together the expertise of both organizations to provide comprehensive, high-quality care to children and families in the region.

As of July 14, nearly two dozen pediatric subspecialty services are being provided by Nemours Children's and are now currently available to patient families. These services include:

  • Neonatal intensive care 
  • Pediatric intensive care 
  • Newborn nursery
  • Pediatric surgery 
  • Allergy 
  • Adolescent medicine 
  • Audiology/otolaryngology
  • Cardiology
  • Endocrinology
  • Gastroenterology
  • Hematology/oncology
  • Hospitalist
  • Nephrology
  • Neurology
  • Ophthalmology 
  • Orthopedics
  • Physical medicine and rehabilitation
  • Pulmonology 
  • Rheumatology
  • Urology
  • Surgery
  • Clinical trials

“This collaboration is a reflection of our unwavering commitment to keep the health and well-being of children at the forefront,” said Aaron Carpenter, DNP, MDiv, APRN, CPNP-PC, NEA-BC, North Florida President for Nemours Children’s Health. “At Nemours Children’s Health, we focus on the health of the whole child, and as our organizations forge ahead together, we are well-positioned to provide both the medical care and community resources to foster a healthier future for children in and around Pensacola.” 

With the transition, more than 100 additional clinicians and staff are now employed by Nemours Children’s and will practice at Studer Family Children’s Hospital as well as in the outpatient setting as part of this new strategic collaboration.

For decades, Nemours Children’s and Studer Family Children’s Hospital have cared for children across Northwest Florida, treating some of the most complex medical conditions the region has seen. This new arrangement between the organizations aims to leverage their collective expertise garnered throughout their rich histories to centralize and elevate care access and quality through clinical excellence, groundbreaking research and community-based resources, support and engagement.

“Together, Nemours and Studer Family Children’s Hospital are expanding access to critical care for children across Northwest Florida,” said Jason Foland, MD, MBA, CPE, FAAP, FCCM, President of Studer Family Children’s Hospital. “By adding more providers and services, we’re reducing the stress families face during some of the most difficult moments of their lives by providing expert care closer to home when it’s needed most.”
