”I am very proud that our hospital has earned the national certification for our Cardiac Rehabilitation Program, a distinction that underscores our dedication to delivering the highest quality of care to heart patients in our community,” said Jace Jones, Chief Administrative Officer, Ascension Seton Edgar B. Davis. “This certification reflects our commitment to patient-centered recovery, and helping individuals regain strength, heart health and getting back to their daily lives after a cardiac event.”

To earn accreditation, Ascension Seton Edgar B. Davis cardiac rehabilitation program participated in an application process that required extensive documentation of the program’s practices. Nicholas Gegan woke up in the middle of the night gasping for air and then collapsed. Startled awake, his wife began CPR on her husband to keep him alive while calling for an ambulance. The 35-year-old father of two had gone into cardiac arrest without warning. Emergency crews rushed Nicholas to Ascension Seton Hays (ASH) and the care team quickly realized he needed Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), where a machine pumps and oxygenates his blood, to save his life.
