Ascension Wisconsin Honored for Statewide Leadership in Obesity Care

Ascension Wisconsin has been recognized with the Excellence in Healthcare Award at the Wisconsin Collaborative for Healthcare Quality (WCHQ) annual Wisconsin Healthcare Impact Assembly on November 14, 2025. This award honors organizations that demonstrate exceptional leadership, innovation and impact in advancing healthcare quality across the state.

Ascension Wisconsin was one of four organizations selected for its significant achievements in improving the health and well-being of people throughout Wisconsin. Each award recipient exemplifies WCHQ’s mission to drive measurable improvement, strengthen collaboration and promote equitable, high-quality care.

Elevating Obesity Care Across Wisconsin

WCHQ highlighted Ascension Wisconsin’s bariatric and weight-loss programs for their commitment to clinical excellence and continuous quality improvement. Multiple Ascension Wisconsin sites have earned MBSAQIP accreditation for their medical-surgical bariatric programs; a distinction that reflects rigorous monitoring of patient outcomes, strong data-tracking practices, advanced staff training and a focus on delivering consistent, high-quality care.

This work has led to expanded services, improved patient satisfaction and stronger health outcomes across the region.

“We are honored to be recognized with the Excellence in Healthcare Award,” said Dr. Chintan Desai, Chief Medical Officer, Ascension Wisconsin. “We are incredibly proud of this distinction, which reflects the dedication of our providers to compassionate, evidence-based medicine. By leveraging advanced analytics and informatics, our teams are able to provide best in-class care to the patients and communities we are privileged to serve.”

Expanding Access and Enhancing the Patient Experience

Across its sites of care, Ascension Wisconsin continues to expand access to weight-loss and wellness services. Innovations such as EHR-enabled engagement tools, telemedicine, remote monitoring, e-consults and embedded specialists are helping patients receive more coordinated, convenient and supportive care throughout their weight-loss journey.

These efforts reflect Ascension Wisconsin’s commitment to helping individuals achieve better health through personalized care, advanced treatment options and an exceptional patient experience.
