Medical Mission at Home Offers Free Health Services to Those in Need

On April 25, Via Christi hosted Medical Mission at Home, a free, one-day event offering free health and wellness services to the community with special emphasis on those who are uninsured, underinsured or facing barriers to traditional care.

During the year event, more than 120 participants were offered the following services at no cost:

  • Medical services
  • Dental screenings through community partner Hunter Health
  • Spiritual care
  • Food assistance through community partner Kansas Food Bank
  • No-cost prescriptions through Ascension Rx supported by donated medications from Dispensary of Hope
  • Mammograms through the "Hope" mobile mammography unit
  • Foot-washing
  • On-site private showers through community partner ShowerUp
  • Follow-up appointments to support needed ongoing care

"Medical Mission at Home allows us to live out our mission in its purest form—serving those who are most vulnerable right here in Wichita," says Joe Wysocki, Chief Mission Integration Officer. "It’s more than just providing a prescription or a screening. It’s about seeing each person, honoring their dignity, and showing our neighbors that they are not alone in their health journey."

This event wouldn’t have been possible without the dedicated volunteers from Via Christi — associates, physicians, nurses, pharmacists, chaplains — and our vital community partners. We extend our deepest gratitude to the Kansas Food Bank, Hunter Health, Guadalupe Clinic, GraceMed, and Delta Dental for their collaboration in serving those in need.

Through Medical Mission at Home, Via Christi continues to meet people where they are, breaking down barriers to care and helping build stronger, healthier communities.
