Two Ascension Wisconsin hospitals, Ascension All Saints and Ascension Mercy Hospital, have earned recognition through the Wisconsin Emergency Medical Services for Children (WI EMSC) Emergency Department Pediatric Recognition Program. This recognition affirms that their Emergency Departments are equipped and committed to delivering exceptional, pediatric-ready emergency care that meets the rigorous standards established by the American Academy of Pediatrics.
This achievement reflects the dedication, expertise, and compassion of our Emergency Department care teams who work every day to ensure children receive the specialized emergency care they need.
“The pediatric readiness certification demonstrates that our hospitals have the specialized staff, equipment, policies, and protocols needed to provide high-quality, life-saving emergency care to the children and families we serve,” said Courtney Shears, director of Patient Care Services, Ascension Mercy Hospital.
In order to receive Emergency Department Pediatric Recognition, an ED needs to meet multiple
requirements, including:
- Disaster plan addressing pediatric patients
- Pediatric Readiness Assessment approval
- Nurse Pediatric Emergency Care Coordinator
- Physician Pediatric Emergency Care Coordinator
Ascension All Saints and Ascension Mercy Hospital are pleased to receive this recognition, and are dedicated to providing excellent emergency care to all patients.
