Ascension St. Vincent’s has named Andrew Gnann president and CEO of Ascension St. Vincent’s Riverside, effective Sept. 14, 2026.
Gnann currently serves as president of Ascension Seton Williamson in Central Texas. His appointment provides continuity in leadership and an understanding of Ascension’s Mission and commitment to providing compassionate, personalized care to all, with special attention to people in need.
His new role continues a lifelong connection to the ministry. Gnann was born at a St. Vincent's hospital in Alabama and began his healthcare career within St. Vincent's.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to join the Northeast Florida community and continue a career that has been shaped by Ascension’s Mission,” said Gnann. “My story with St. Vincent's started the day I was born, so stepping into this role carries real meaning for me. There is a remarkable legacy here, built by the Daughters of Charity and generations of associates who came before us. I take the responsibility of stewarding that history and carrying it forward very seriously."
Gnann will lead Ascension St. Vincent’s Riverside while focusing on clinical excellence, associate and clinician engagement, strategic growth, and expansion of quality care.
“Andrew brings extensive operational experience and an understanding of what it means to lead within Ascension,” said Scott Kashman, CEO of Ascension St. Vincent’s Health System. “His experience leading teams and operations in multiple Ascension markets will allow him to step into this role with a strong foundation and focus immediately on the needs of the community. We are excited to welcome Andrew and his family to Northeast Florida.”
Gnann’s connection to Ascension began long before his professional career. He and his twin brother were born at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. Years later, he began his healthcare career as an administrative resident at Ascension St. Vincent’s East in Birmingham. Gnann steadily advanced through leadership positions and eventually led the hospital as president.
Gnann completed his undergraduate bachelor’s degree at Trinity University in San Antonio and his graduate master’s degree in healthcare administration at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Outside of work, he is an avid swimmer who competed collegiately and continues to occasionally compete with U.S. Masters Swimming. He credits swimming with helping him maintain both his physical and mental well-being.
