Ascension Saint Thomas Expands Primary Care Access in Wilson County with Addition of Summit Primary Care

Ascension Saint Thomas welcomes Summit Primary Care to its network, expanding access to primary care in Wilson County and East Davidson County. The practice joined Ascension Saint Thomas Medical Partners on Sept. 1, as Ascension Saint Thomas Medical Partners Providence and relocated from Hermitage to 77 Belinda Parkway, Suite 202, in Mt. Juliet.

Founded in 1948 by Dr. Robert Gaston Sr. and continuously serving the community for generations, Summit Primary Care has served patients in the community for more than two decades. The practice adds to Ascension Saint Thomas’ network of 20 sites of care and more than 170,000 annual patient encounters in Wilson County. For patients, the transition keeps them connected to their physicians and care team while connecting them to Saint Thomas hospitals, specialists and outpatient services across Middle Tennessee.

“Summit Primary Care has an incredible history as the foundation of primary care in the community, and we're proud to integrate the group's legacy into the future of Ascension Saint Thomas” said Fahad Tahir, president and CEO of Ascension Saint Thomas. “Welcoming this well-respected primary care group builds our longstanding commitment to Wilson County and strengthens our ability to meet the needs of a growing community. Together, we can help more patients and families connect with the care they need close to home.”

The practice’s seven physicians and practitioners and 30 associates join a local care network that includes Ascension Saint Thomas Medical Partners Mt. Juliet, located nearby at 108 Providence Trail. That practice’s nine physicians and providers have served the community for more than 15 years. Together, the two practices expand Ascension Saint Thomas’ primary care presence in Mt. Juliet.

“Our relationships with our patients are at the heart of our practice,” said Dr. Scott Major of Ascension Saint Thomas Medical Partners Providence. “Joining Ascension Saint Thomas allows us to continue providing the personalized care our patients know while helping them connect with additional services and specialists when needed. We look forward to welcoming patients to our new Mt. Juliet location.”

For Summit Primary Care patients, the transition means a new name and location while their physicians and care team remain the same.

Ascension Saint Thomas Medical Partners Providence is located at 77 Belinda Parkway, Suite 202, Mt. Juliet, TN 37122. For practice information or questions about appointments, call (615) 883-2331.
