Ascension St. Vincent's expands primary care access across St. Johns County with three new locations

Ascension St. Vincent’s is expanding access to primary care services in St. Johns County with three new locations opening across the county.

The expansion includes three locations:

  • Aberdeen – 3655 Longleaf Pine Pkwy., St. Johns, FL 32259 – Opening December 2026
  • Nocatee – 1035 Crosswater Pkwy., Nocatee, FL 32081 – Opening Winter 2027
  • Fruit Cove – 616 State Road 13, St. Johns, FL 32259 – Opening TBD 2027

"As more families choose to call St. Johns County home, access to healthcare must grow alongside our community," said Sean McAfee, President and CEO, Ascension St. Vincent’s St. Johns County. "Opening three new primary care locations in Aberdeen, Fruit Cove, and Nocatee allows us to meet patients closer to where they live and support the long-term health of our growing community."

The new primary care locations will provide comprehensive primary care services, including routine wellness exams, preventive screenings, treatment for common illnesses, and chronic disease management. Patients will also benefit from coordinated access to Ascension St. Vincent’s broader network of specialists and services throughout Northeast Florida.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, St. Johns County’s population increased by nearly 27% between 2020 and 2025. That rapid growth has created an increasing need for convenient access to healthcare, particularly primary care services.

The expansion also comes as Florida faces broader challenges in primary care availability. According to the Florida Department of Health’s physician workforce reporting, 66 of the state’s 67 counties have experienced primary care shortages in at least some areas. Locally, St. Johns County’s 2024 Community Health Assessment identified access to healthcare as a priority for improving community health.

This primary care expansion is part of a larger investment by Ascension St. Vincent’s to expand access to comprehensive healthcare services throughout St. Johns County. These efforts include the new Family Birth Place at Ascension St. Vincent’s St. Johns Hospital, scheduled to open in summer 2027, which will expand access to maternity and neonatal care for growing families. Recent additions to cardiovascular and neuro-oncology services are also bringing specialized care closer to home. A primary care clinic also opened in Murabella in January 2026.
