A. Brian Wilcox, Jr. MD serves as the Chief Clinical Officer for Ascension Saint Thomas.
Dr. Wilcox joined Ascension Saint Thomas in 2012 as a Cardiothoracic surgeon, playing an instrumental role in the Heart, Vascular and Thoracic surgery programs over the years at Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital Midtown. Through the years, he has led many departments and service lines, including Wound Care, Heart, Lung & Vascular Surgery, and served in leadership roles including Chief of Surgery, Chief of Staff, Chief Physician Executive Saint Thomas Heart and most recently served as President of Ascension Medical Group (AMG) - Tennessee. Dr. Wilcox has also served as Board Quality and Patient Safety Committee chair, having an enterprise-wide view of the clinical experience within our Ministry.
He’s a diplomate of the American Board of Surgery and American Board of Thoracic Surgery. His accolades include being named an Ascension Saint Thomas Health Seton Society Honoree, and an Ascension Saint Thomas Midtown Physician of the Year.
Dr. Wilcox attended medical school at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, where he also completed his Cardiothoracic Surgery training.
